My garden is my special place and all of the plants have a story. Other than the veggies and a hanging basket, I don’t really bother with annuals. I feel a real connection with the plants that withstand hard times, but are strong enough to survive and bloom when it’s their time.
I look forward to inspecting my garden every day checking for new growth and beauty. My grandpa would be proud.
I once posted on Facebook about the Peonies I transplanted from my grandma’s yard a few years ago and how excited I was when they finally bloomed. I am so glad I was able to dig some up before her house was sold. She always enlisted me as the one to cut them down in the fall for her and she would hold the lawn bag for me. I sure miss her a lot. Who knows, maybe one of the cardinals that visit the big, beautiful butterfly bush is her checking up on me and the pineys (that is how she pronounced it).
